Custom Finished

It took all day, but I managed to finish the custom order for PookaPooka on Etsy. She sent me 6 premium size unbleached Indian Prefolds, and I turned them into 6 size medium training pants without PUL, but with decorative prints. The trainers are bound with fold-over elastic edging, and snap on the sides for ease in removing after a messy accident.

And if you are interested in these and have prefolds to convert, please see this listing and contact me on Etsy. I'd be happy to work something out with you.

Prefolds received yesterday

I received 2 packages yesterday. 1 was a package of 6 from PookaPooka, and the other was a package of 15 from LilBirdBlue. I will be cutting and sewing these today. I hope to at least finish and post pictures of PookaPooka's order.

Stay Tuned.

Shape of A Mother, not really shop related

Every so often, I get this wild hair and decide to go browsing at Shape of A Mother. It always makes me feel more comfortable, knowing I'm not the only one that looks like this. A feeling of comraderie, you might say. So I was browsing there tonite, and I discovered my story. Now I wasn't sure it saved, because when I was posting it, my pc froze and had to be reset, so I didn't think it saved. Imagine my surprise to find that it did. I am finding Shape of a Mother to be a wonderful place, and may it help our daughters grow up with a healthy self image, and may help our sons learn not to expect a stick thin supermodel, that we are all beautiful.

Thank you, now back to your regularly scheduled blogging.

I ♥ Cloth Diapers and CPSIA Promotion

Up for grabs currently are a couple of Valentine's Day print One-Size-Fits-Most (OSFM) diaper covers and a couple of pocket all-in-ones with plushy, soft, suedecloth linings, as shown in these prints:

Also, announcing the CPSIA promotion. If you have not heard of the CPSIA legislature prior to this, please go to the above link and read up on it. While NONE of us want toys to be unsafe, we do not agree with a broad enforcement the way this law is written. This law would require EVERY manufacturer of a product designed for children under 12 to submit every item they make to costly end unit testing for lead and pthalates. As we all know, fabrics and textiles don't have lead in them, nor do they have pthalates. But to the enforcers of this law, it doesn't matter. Those of us who stay home with our children and sew diapers in our spare time do not have the funds to submit every single item we create to end unit testing, nor can we afford the fines that can be opposed if we are caught selling such items after the 10th of February. So, some of us on the Etsy Cloth Diapers Street Team are offering specials to try and clear inventory before the 10th. Some of those specials include:

Here is a list of participating shops:

Purple Ducks: 25% off all diapers
Dutch Baby Dudz: 50% off everything
Lil' Bees: Selected Items 10-30% off
Treebottom Wool: 25% off everything
Bare Bottoms Boutique: Selected Items on Sale (planning on closing shop)
Simply Sunny: 10% off, low flat-rate shipping
Laina's Laundry: Discounts & free shipping
Bundles of Joy: Free Shipping + Free Gifts with purchase
Simply Sanity Creations: Free Shipping + Free Gift with purchase
Wild Onez Diaperz: 50% off everything, possibly closing shop
Our Lady of the Snows: New Lower Prices

Also coming soon: Doll MT's (assuming that CPSIA gets rewritten) such as this one, with velcro closures to prevent entanglement

Customs In Progress

Received 2 packages yesterday, 6 prefolds from Princesajj, and 12 prefolds from RobinMCI. I am starting on the 6 first, simply because that is the first pkg I opened. She asked for gender neutral colors, since even though her first is a girl, she is currently carrying #2, who is a boy. SO here we go all cut out and ready to sew...

More updates as necessary

Prefolds Become Underpants

Ever wondered what to do with your prefolds after your youngest is ready to start potty training? Is your child interested in learning to use the potty but not ready for regular underpants yet? Then these are for you. These pants were all made using a unbleached toddler size prefold (premiums can be used as well, even infant size can be used, although you will have blocks on the side where I had to piece them together) cut in such a way that the absorbent part of the prefold is the absorbent part of the pants. What could be better than being able to use something you didn't think you could use anymore? For $3 each, or 2 for $5, you pay shipping to me, and I will pay the shipping back to you.

Curious about size? My small size fits a waist of 12-18", a thigh of 7-12", and a rise of 16-19", depending on whether the bikini cut or high waist is chosen. My medium size fits a waist of 18-24", a thigh of 9-13", and a rise of 17-21", while my large fits a waist of 20-30", a thigh of 14-20", and a rise of 20-23".
